Tools for Elul: Rabbi Larry Freedman
If not now, when? I love being a rabbi and I love working with educators and students as they teach and learn how inspiring and uplifting and enriching our heritage can be. How can I do more of that? How can I refocus my rabbinate to allow me to dig deep into the world of educating children and their parents?
If not now, when? Sometimes change can be challenging. I had 11 years in a lovely pulpit. Change my focus? Voluntarily?
If not now, when? It was time. Time for a new challenge, a return to a city I love, to the education focus I love, to friends we raised children with. It was time.
But that means I have to sell a house, buy a house, pack a house and start all over.
But if not now, when? And I couldn't be happier.
