This important half-day summit is part of the 2024 "Jewish Women and Religious Freedom in Pittsburgh" project grant sponsored by the Jewish Women's Foundation of Greater Pittsburgh, underwritten by JWF Trustee Nancy Weissman, in memory of her beloved mother-in-law, JWF Trustee Jacquelin Wechsler.


Together we will explore the future of religious freedom in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and across the United States in the aftermath of the 2024 elections. The program is designed to engage, amplify, and elevate the voices of Jewish women and others of marginalized genders around key religious freedom issues, including reproductive rights, gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, public education, and antisemitism.


Keynote Speaker: The Honorable Jill Beck, Pennsylvania Superior Court, will deliver a keynote address titled "A View From the Bench," followed by an audience Q&A session.


Panel Discussion: Moderated by Judge Beck, the panel will feature insights from local esteemed leaders and experts. Together, they will examine the challenges to religious freedom that impact reproductive rights, gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, public education, and more. Confirmed panelists:

  • Jackie Perlow (Supervising Attorney, Women’s Law Project)

  • Professor Kathleen Blee (Distinguished Professor of Sociology, University of Pittsburgh)

  • Carrie Wardzinski (Pittsburgh Organizer Red, Wine & Blue|Pennsylvania)


Interactive Action Hour: Participate in focused mini-sessions led by organizations such as the Jewish Women's Foundation, NJCW Pittsburgh, the Women's Law Project, and more that will share actionable steps and engagement opportunities for attendees, encouraging local advocacy, community networking, and preparing for 2025.
