Vote FAQ

What is the Resolution being proposed?

The Board of Trustees has referred a vote to the membership to “authorize and direct the proper officers of Rodef Shalom Congregation to pursue a plan of unification under the terms and process described in the Term Sheet and Brit, and to negotiate and deliver all documents necessary to achieve the proposed unification.”

You may read the resolution in its entirety here.

When is the vote happening?

The vote is scheduled for Sunday, June 8, 2025. The meeting will begin at noon, and voting will remain open until 7:00 PM. We encourage members to attend in person at noon to ensure a quorum.

Will there be an opportunity for public comment on June 8th?

The meeting will begin at 12:00 PM on June 8th at Rodef Shalom with a call to order by the President of the Board of Trustees, pending the establishment of a quorum. At that time, a brief recap of the unification process and journey will be provided for all attendees. There will be an official motion and a second from the floor for the resolution referenced above. At that time, general comments or discussions will be permitted as appropriate. Once the general discussion and public comment is completed, the question will be called and we will begin the voting process.

How do I vote?

Voting will take place in person at Rodef Shalom Congregation, via phone at 412.621.6566 ext.133 and 412.621.6566 ext. 137, and online via Zoom.

Do I need to pre-register to vote?

Registration is not required to vote. Any family unit in good standing with the Congregation is eligible to cast a vote for unification.

If you plan to attend in person at noon, RSVP here or by phone at 412.621.6566, ext. 137, as this will help us prepare the necessary space, food, and accommodations.

To receive a Zoom link for online voting, please RSVP here.

How will votes be counted?

Each family unit at Rodef Shalom Congregation will be given one voting card. This card will be used to track votes cast on the resolution for unification. Anyone voting in person will record their vote on the card and submit it to a staff member or volunteer at Rodef Shalom. If an individual is voting via phone or online, they will not receive a card. Rather, their vote will be recorded by a volunteer or staff member who is answering the phone. Photo verification of the recorded vote will be available via email or mail upon request.

Please note that per the bylaws of Rodef Shalom Congregation, each family unit will receive one vote for the resolution for unification. Family units are encouraged to discuss the unification vote together and be in agreement of a response. Once a family unit’s vote is made, it cannot be changed.

When will the results be announced?

Voting will remain open until 7:00 PM on June 8th. Once the voting window closes, votes will be tallied, and the results will be communicated to the Congregation via email on Sunday evening. “Live” or up-to-date results on the vote will not be made available during the day.

I anticipate needing assistance in voting. Who should I contact?

We want to ensure that any family unit currently in good standing with the Congregation can vote on unification. If you anticipate needing additional assistance or help, please contact Paige Saranovic at saranovic@rodefshalom.org
